Streamlining the University Application Process

Overview

This project has been one of my favorite design challenges. I had the opportunity to redesign the Salesforce OmniStudio guided flow for my company's product team. The goal was to revamp the OmniStudio interface specifically for the education industry, creating a seamless, intuitive, and user-friendly application experience.

Problem Statement

The University application process can often feel cumbersome for prospective students, with challenges like unclear navigation, difficulty revisiting future steps without completing all the required fields, and lack of transparency in tracking application progress.

Process

Process: Conducted competeior research and see how existing university are handling the university application process. Analysed feedbacks and painpoints from industry experts.

Ideation: Created wireframe and prototypes to test layouts and user flows for:

  • Back-and-forth Navigation: ENsuring users can easily revist completed steps without loosing progress.
  • Error Indicators: Adding real-time error messages and a summary view of issue for faster resolution.
  • Progress Tracking: Introducing a visual tracker to clearly display the status of each application stage.

Testing: Conducted usability tests with subject matter experts to validate the design and gather iterative feedback.

Branding + Visual Design

For this project, I adhered to Huron's branding guidelines to ensure consistency in visual design and alignment with the company's identity. This included using Huron's color palette, typography, and design principles to create a cohesive and professional interface.
